Drew and Jonathan Scott, the sibling stars of HGTV’s “Property Brothers,” came by Birchbox HQ to share their men’s style essentials and the best piece of advice they’ve received. They lament the death of the handyman, but luckily, have plenty of how to bring him back. Read their interview below and then watch their ten easy home upgrade tips for further charming.
Jonathan: Drew has an athlete’s hair—short and low maintenance but also boring. When it’s that short you just can’t do much.
Drew: My hair is efficient. I wake up, put in a little wax and get started on my day. Jonathan’s hair takes some taming. Blow dry, wax, hairspray—you name it. Don’t hold open flames close to his head. But I have to admit, he rocks the style better than I could.
Drew: I’m a bit of a health nut so I love morning protein shakes. I will also have a dinner meal for breakfast if it has the proper nutrients.
Jonathan: I love my morning fresh berry smoothies along with a well rounded meal. Eggs, meat, toast. Keeps my energy up for the day.
Drew: A fancy pair of socks. Nothing is more awesome than when your pant leg rides up a bit to show a pop of personality.
Jonathan: Comfortable denim is a must for any guy. Something that you can go out in or even slap on a tool belt and get some work done in.
Drew and Jonathan: There are definitely fewer handymen around today than there were in the past. With the busy lifestyle most guys have these days the miscellaneous improvements around the house are neglected. However, educating guys on the process of how easy certain fixes are and how much money they can save will go far in order to reverse this process.
Drew and Jonathan: Too much on a big screen TV, and not enough for the furniture that go with it in a room.
Drew and Jonathan: Between Property Brothers and Buying and Selling we do up to nine projects at a time. Keeps us busy, but we like to work efficiently.
Drew: “Those who say ‘you can’t’ are only getting in the way of those who can.” You’d be surprised what you can accomplish with a positive attitude.
Jonathan: “Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.” This great quote taught me to never fear trying something different.
